Stages, landscapes, highlights: discover the program that awaits you. This itinerary may be adjusted depending on weather or logistics, to ensure the best possible experience.
Day 1 – Arrival in Bayonne, bike setup, and first ride to Hendaye ~ 36 km / 400 m elevation gain
Day 2 – From Hendaye to Sare ~ 40 km / 760 m elevation gain
Day 3 – From Sare to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port ~ 60 km / 1,500 m elevation gain
Day 4 – From Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port back to Bayonne ~ 55 km / 800 m elevation gain
After arriving in Bayonne, you’ll set up your bikes and attend a briefing at David Transition. Then, it’s time to start your first gentle warm-up ride along the entire Basque coast. Enjoy endless ocean views, smooth riding, and a true holiday atmosphere. Stop for lunch in Saint-Jean-de-Luz before continuing on to Hendaye.
On this second day, you’ll ride between France and Spain via Bera, alternating between greenways and wilder roads. The climb up Col de Lizarrieta is the highlight of the stage. For those feeling extra ambitious, optional detours allow you to conquer Jaizkibel or Souahlmendi. You’ll finish the day in Sare and spend the night at Hôtel Arraya.
A spectacular alpine day featuring the gravel climb of Otxondo, followed by the Col d’Izpegi. The route winds through the Baztan Valley, with the opportunity to visit its iconic caves. To extend the local experience, a tasting of Irouléguy wines can be arranged before arriving in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port.
The final stage takes you through the heart of the inner Basque Country, weaving between Irouléguy vineyards and rugged terrain. You’ll cross a small pass above Bidarray, then descend along the banks of the Nive River, passing the legendary Pas de Roland. The ride continues gradually through Ustaritz before reaching Bayonne, the perfect finale to your adventure.

A self-guided trip is a gravel adventure you complete at your own pace, without a guide riding alongside you. We design the ideal route for you, select accommodations, organize the logistics, and provide all the tools you need to ride with complete peace of mind. You ride freely — we take care of the rest.

You are autonomous in the field, but never alone. Before departure, you receive a complete digital route book (GPS tracks, tips, and recommended stops). During your trip, our team remains available remotely in case of questions, issues, or unexpected situations

These trips are designed for gravel cyclists who are comfortable with GPS navigation and enjoy riding without a group, whether as a couple or with friends. Routes are offered by difficulty level, so everyone can choose an adventure suited to their fitness, experience, and preferences.

Each trip includes a tested and validated gravel route, nights in characterful accommodations, breakfasts, a digital route book, remote assistance, and full logistical organization. Depending on the destination, optional extras may be added, such as luggage transport, gravel bike rental, or local experiences.

Booking
You may change the date of your trip free of charge up to 30 days before departure. You may also cancel your booking at any time prior to the start of your trip. The following conditions will then apply:
More than 90 days before departure → 75% refund, or a 100% credit of the amounts paid, valid for the next 12 months
Between 60 and 90 days before departure → 50% refund, or a 75% credit of the amounts paid, valid for the next 12 months
Between 30 and 60 days before departure → 25% refund, or a 50% credit of the amounts paid, valid for the next 12 months
Less than 30 days before departure → No refund, or a 50% credit of the amounts paid, valid for the next 12 months
You may also take out cancellation insurance with our partner Chapka Insurance. This option will be offered at the time of booking. More information about the insurance is available here.
Please note that a Trip Credit cannot be converted to a refund at a later date.
