The journey

Embark on a vibrant journey from Oslo toHallingdal and Gudbrandsdalen, to the edge of Jotunheimen and the breathtaking Scandinavian mountains. Over 5 days riding Jeff Webb, founder of Fara cycling and your local guide, will take you through some of the most spectacular scenery that Norway has to offer.

  • Day 1 : Pick up at Oslo airport followed bywelcome drinks and bike fitting at Fara cycling centre. A 40 km warm up ride through Nordmarka - the famous wilderness outskirts of Oslo - will start off your journey and take us to our first stop over just north of Oslo. Guaranteed immediate immersion in nature.

  • Day 2 : We will begin by cycling through the charming town of Torpo before heading into the stunning mountains of Hemsedal. As we make our way through the mountains, we will be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. A 90 km ride through hamlets with cottages typical of the area, wild mountains a-plenty, and following the slopes of the Milky road. Sumptuous forests will take us to Gomobu where we’ll spend the night.

  • Day 3 : Yoga stretching to start the day well followed by a 75 km day with the main climb of the trip to the Slettefjell viewpoint, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Along the way, we might spot herds of sheep and other wildlife grazing the surrounding hills. You’ll feel the immensity of the Nordic landscape as the road winds from lake and mountain, before reaching the our home for the night: Grønolen Fjellgard.

  • Day 4 : You’ll follow the fjords inland to find lakes nestled in the Norwegian mountains over the 75km that today has in store. The ride begins with a climb of a few kms, but as we make our way towards the Jotunheimen National Park, the ride flattens out to roll through the countryside. One of the notable landmarks on this route is the Valdresflye mountain plateau, which is one of highest plateau roads in Northern Europe. We’ll ride east along Jotunheimvegen to reach Dalseter, where a traditional hot meal awaits us for a fun last night together!

  • Day 5 : Enjoy this last day of riding, 60 km past Fefor and Gålå to Fåvang, along the scenic Peer Gynt road, named after the impulsive, charming and arrogant title character of Henrik Ibsen’s play. A final lunch all together before returning to Oslo to enjoy the nature around you but also a philosophy of life where nature, sports, and well-being have a privileged place.

"A GravelUp trip isn’t a race, it's an adventure to be shared and savoured. The average speed is the one that allows everyone to enjoy the landscapes we travel through. We start together and we finish together. That’s the GravelUp spirit.”

I will be travelling again with GravelUp and highly recommend the experience. The program was a good balance of scripted and flexible, not too full, but with beautiful offerings.

A unique experience of traveling and discovering extraordinary landscapes. Nature, sports, gastronomy - a wonderfully balanced mix by the organisers at Gravel Up.

We had a lovely time with the Gavel Up team. Really nice people, fun, strong....!!!! The riding was great, bikes too, food and wine was always top. Meeting like minded bike people was also superb and everyone thoroughly enjoyed, laughed, complained at the hills and always smiling each day. Highly recommended.

Alex B. - May 2022

I had a wonderful time with GravelUp! The organisation was perfect and the team very attentive. The cycling route was magnificent and several surprises made the stay very enjoyable (yoga session, visit of the forest with a specialist, visit of a sheepfold with cheese tasting...). In short, an unforgettable experience that I will repeat!

Thomas C. - May 2022

Climbing mountains makes you happy ! This second experience with gravel up was awesome. Another group, another destination, and I could find the same atmosphere that only the GravelUp team is able to foster within just a weekend and between people who don’t know each other beforehand !

One of the best adventures of all time... I participated in a GravelUp trip and it was AMAZING. Wonderful team, they really took care of us and made sure we had the best time. It was my first time in Nice and my first time doing gravel, and I really enjoyed it. Each day was a different and exciting experience with a good balance of physical effort, beautiful scenery and routes, and good company. Not to mention the delicious and healthy food from the region. I will definitely "gravel up" again for a new adventure.

Patricio S. - Feb. 2023

This was my first experience on gravel and it could not have been a better destination to try it. The Gravel Up team were very welcoming, highly organised and confidently handled riders of quite varying abilities and fitness.

It says a lot for an event, and those who lead it, when the time off the bike is almost as good as time on the trails. I would recommend Gravel Up to anybody wanting to test themselves a little (or a lot!) and to enjoy great company and excellent food in the best surroundings.

This GravelUp trip was awesome...! An incredible experience of riding under the blue sky and close to the mediterranean sea with passionate people! Clearly the perfect break to disconnect and recharge the batteries!
