The journey
Embark on a vibrant journey from Oslo toHallingdal and Gudbrandsdalen, to the edge of Jotunheimen and the breathtaking Scandinavian mountains. Over 5 days riding Jeff Webb, founder of Fara cycling and your local guide, will take you through some of the most spectacular scenery that Norway has to offer.
Day 1 : Pick up at Oslo airport followed bywelcome drinks and bike fitting at Fara cycling centre. A 40 km warm up ride through Nordmarka - the famous wilderness outskirts of Oslo - will start off your journey and take us to our first stop over just north of Oslo. Guaranteed immediate immersion in nature.
Day 2 : We will begin by cycling through the charming town of Torpo before heading into the stunning mountains of Hemsedal. As we make our way through the mountains, we will be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. A 90 km ride through hamlets with cottages typical of the area, wild mountains a-plenty, and following the slopes of the Milky road. Sumptuous forests will take us to Gomobu where we’ll spend the night.
Day 3 : Yoga stretching to start the day well followed by a 75 km day with the main climb of the trip to the Slettefjell viewpoint, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Along the way, we might spot herds of sheep and other wildlife grazing the surrounding hills. You’ll feel the immensity of the Nordic landscape as the road winds from lake and mountain, before reaching the our home for the night: Grønolen Fjellgard.
Day 4 : You’ll follow the fjords inland to find lakes nestled in the Norwegian mountains over the 75km that today has in store. The ride begins with a climb of a few kms, but as we make our way towards the Jotunheimen National Park, the ride flattens out to roll through the countryside. One of the notable landmarks on this route is the Valdresflye mountain plateau, which is one of highest plateau roads in Northern Europe. We’ll ride east along Jotunheimvegen to reach Dalseter, where a traditional hot meal awaits us for a fun last night together!
Day 5 : Enjoy this last day of riding, 60 km past Fefor and Gålå to Fåvang, along the scenic Peer Gynt road, named after the impulsive, charming and arrogant title character of Henrik Ibsen’s play. A final lunch all together before returning to Oslo to enjoy the nature around you but also a philosophy of life where nature, sports, and well-being have a privileged place.
"A GravelUp trip isn’t a race, it's an adventure to be shared and savoured. The average speed is the one that allows everyone to enjoy the landscapes we travel through. We start together and we finish together. That’s the GravelUp spirit.”
